Emeritus Professor Ann Elizabeth Sefton AO
Emeritus Professor Ann Sefton AO was a Fellow of Senate elected by and from the graduates of the of the University of Sydney for two terms from 1 December 2001 to 30 November 2009. During this period, Ann was appointed Pro-Chancellor (2003) and was elected Deputy Chancellor by Senate for two terms, from 20 February 2004 to 4 February 2008.
While Deputy Chancellor, Ann presided over a number of graduation ceremonies including overseas graduations, and was
- Chair of the Ad Hoc Advisory Committee for the Selection of Chancellor
- Chair of the Advisory Committee for Honorary Awards
- Acting Chair of the Chair Appointments Committee
- an ex-officio member of most Senate committees
- an ex-officio member of the Law Extension Committee
As a graduate Fellow of Senate, Ann was a member of the Alumni Council from 2006 to 2009.

Ann was formerly a Professor in Physiology, Associate Dean in the Faculties of Medicine and Dentistry, and Chair of the Academic Forum. She is Co-Chair, Education Committee, International Union of Physiological Sciences and Member of Council. She is an Honorary Life Member, SU Medical Society, Australasian Medical Students’ Association, and was awarded the following: Australian Award for University Teaching; Teaching Excellence (University of Sydney); and Dentistry and Lions Award (research advisory).
