2010 marks the 150th anniversary of the opening of the Nicholson Museum to the public and the birth of Sydney University Museums.

Charles Nicholson: Man and Museum
The exhibition "Charles Nicholson: Man and Museum" features a selection of his extraordinary benefaction of art and antiquities to the University. On the 200th anniversary of Nicholson's birth, Man and Museum celebrates his life and achievments, and the legacy he left for future generations in the shape of the Nicholson Museum.

Friends of the Nicholson Museum dinner celebrating the 150th Anniversary of the Museum, 13 October 2010
The Friends of Nicholson Museum celebrated the anniversary with a dinner held on 13 October 2010.

"Into the Light: treasures from the cultural collections of the University of Sydney"
The new book "Into the Light: treasures from the cultural collections of the University of Sydney" - available from November 2010 - celebrates the anniversary. Written by the three senior curators Jude Philp, Ann Stephen and Michael Turner, it includes photographs by freelance photographer Michael Myers of over 170 artefacts and artworks from the University of Sydney’s cultural collections.
