East

East

by Steven Berkoff

Presented by the Seymour Centre's BITE and IT GOES BEYOND THEATRE

Synopsis

Set in London’s East End in the 1960s, East is a viciously savage yet deeply poignant collage of damage and desire reminiscent of Trainspotting and Snatch.

Steven Berkoff forges outrageous poetry from a concoction of Shakespearean rhythms and cockney slang, and combines it with kinetic physicality to create a theatrical experience that is obscene, darkly funny and beautiful. East is a celebration of the energetic waste of youth, bursting at the seams with visual and verbal exuberance.
