Poetic Inspirations

Poetic Inspirations

Presented by the Sydney Uni Graduate Choir

This concert features music inspired by famous poets. Along with Parry's setting of Blake’s Jerusalem and Debussy's epoch-making tone poem, Prélude á L’Apres-Midi D’Un Faune (Prelude to the Afternoon of a Faun), based on a poem of Stéphane Mallarmé, and Stanford's Songs of the Fleet, to poems by Newbolt, we also look forward to presenting Songs of the Heart, a new work by Christopher Bowen, who has set a number of the poems by the important Sydney poet, Christopher Brennan.

This work will be dedicated to our Patron, Professor Marie Bashir AC CVO Governor of New South Wales and Chancellor of the University of Sydney.

Soloists: Richard Mitchell (Baritone) and
Owen Torr (Harp)
Music Director: Christopher Bowen
