The Shawshank Detention

The Shawshank Detention

USU & USYD Education and Social Work Revue

Revues at the University of Sydney have a long history, contributing greatly to both student life and the University’s public image. The University of Sydney Union presents The Shawshank Detention, a multi-act theatrical show that combines music, dance and comedy sketches. This year – for the first time in over ten years – the students of the Education and Social Work Faculty will be producing and performing a revue. This student-run Revue variety show brings education, social work and current issues to the fore and satirises the year thus far.

The Shawshank Detention will feature such skits as Classablanca Trial, School Boy Interlude, Shakespeare’s Gillard vs Unions, So You Think You Can Teach and Twilight Detention Room. These performances will bring new meaning to current affairs and show the future teachers and social workers of tomorrow in ways you never thought would be possible without it being absolute career suicide.

Whilst there are a number of revues organised by different faculties and universities around Australia, ours will be the only Education and Social Work related revue in the country.
