The University of Sydney is delighted to be a gold sponsor of the Australian pavilion at the Shanghai World Expo 2010. The Expo will be one of the year's most exciting global events and is expected to attract up to 70 million visitors over six months.
During the Expo the University is hosting a series of academic symposia in Shanghai that will bring together leading Australian and Chinese researchers. We currently have more than 50 research and teaching agreements with top Chinese universities.
Our links with China go back more than 30 years, to when the first Chinese scholars allowed to travel overseas under Deng Xiaoping's reforms came to study at Sydney. The links are still strong. Today we have more than 5000 Chinese students and a network of 10,000 alumni in China.
