Annette Cairnduff

Annette leads the development and implementation of the University's social inclusion strategy. This includes working with the University community to ensure that it is an inclusive place and management of the programs with schools and communities to encourage participation in higher education. Annette took a lead role in the establishment of Bridges to Higher Education and is now Chair of the Management Committee.


Mary Teague

Head - Widening Participation
Mary Teague

Mary's role is focused on progressing University-wide programs and Faculty based projects to increase the participation of students from low socio-economic backgrounds, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students and regional students within the University of Sydney. This includes strategic management of E12. Admissions pathway, working collaboratively with Institute of Teaching and Learning to implement and oversee the widening participation grants program, Widening Participation Scholars Network and the Sydney Schools Engagement Network.


Steve Knox

Associate Director - Development
Steve Knox

Steve is responsible for raising awareness and support for Social Inclusion. This includes facilitating and overseeing all philanthropic support from individuals, corporations, foundations and associations that are passionate about supporting the Compass and E12 programs.


Ryan Wittingslow

Ryan is responsible for writing and editing web and print content for the Social Inclusion Unit, Compass, and the Student Learning Network.


Miriam Pellicano

Manager - Schools and Communities
Miriam Pellicano

Miriam leads the schools engagement program and partnerships with community organisations. This includes managing the ongoing development and review of Compass and supporting its expansion into regional communities. Miriam is the Chair of the Bridges Schools Engagement Project Group.


Sophie Partridge

Coordinator - Schools and Regional Projects
Sophie Partridge

Sophie manages the day-to-day running of Compass projects in the Sydney metro region and regional NSW. Her role is to supervise the coordination of the in-school program, and maintain relationship with the partner schools and stakeholders.


Katy Head

Senior Project Officer - Volunteers
Katy Head

Katy leads the development of the suite of Compass' volunteer programs and manages relationships with partner schools, community and University stakeholders. She will be working with the Project Officer-Volunteers to manage the overall operational development of the volunteer projects and ensure best practice in volunteer management. A part of her role is focused on developing the breadth of opportunities for University of Sydney student volunteers to participate in Compass projects as part of a mutually beneficial service learning model.


Sylvia Utami

Sylvia Utami

Sylvia manages the implementation of interactive classroom program, delivery of motor skills development program for primary school and delivery of homework club for secondary school. Sylvia also represents the University on the working group producing Enquiring Minds and Model of Achievement series for Bridges to Higher Education network.


Victoria Loy

Project Officer - Schools
Victoria Loy

Victoria manages the delivery of scholarship support workshops for senior students; coordinates the weekly Compass Directions newsletter; assists in the coordination of the school-based Film Production & Editing and Stop Motion Animation programs; and liaises with Compass coordinators in partner schools. Victoria also represents the University on the Connect project group of the Bridges to Higher Education network.


Oliver Best

Project Officer - Volunteers
Oliver Best

Oliver coordinates the Compass volunteer program. His role includes managing the recruitment of University volunteers and the implementation of Word Up, Numeracy Tutoring, Homework Club and Classroom Activity Facilitator programs in Compass partner schools. This year Oliver will be working in partnership with Souths Cares to inaugurate two new Homework Clubs for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students in Southern Sydney.

Josie Wilson

Josie leads events and communications across the Social Inclusion Unit. Her role includes the execution of our communications strategy, the strategic development of our pre-tertiary on campus engagements and management of Wingarra Mura - Bunga Barrabugu Program.


Susan Parker

Project Officer - Events and Communications
Susan Parker

Susan is responsible for the management of pre-tertiary on campus engagements for the Compass program. She is currently developing the expansion of our events to include community partners and the implementation of our communications strategy.


Bianca Williams

Project Officer - Campus Experience
Bianca Williams

Bianca Williams is a Barkindji woman and works exclusively on pre-tertiary engagement activities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students. You may come across her out and about as she promotes the Wingara Mura - Bunga Barrabugu Program.


Abigail Clarkson

Abi's role includes executive assistant duties for the Director, management of all the central administrative services for the office and the design of a range of our publications, such as the Parent Newsletter.


Dorothy Chan

Dorothy Tran

Dorothy provides administrative and logistical support to the Social Inclusion Unit, specifically the Events Team. Assisting in the operations of events and the unit, she supports and liaises with staff, students and key internal and external stakeholders, contributing to the planning and delivery of events.


Sarah Holt

Sarah Holt

Sarah is the first point of contact for the Social Inclusion Unit and all of the associated programs, and undertakes a wide range of administrative services to support the functioning of the program activities. Sarah is a graduate of the University of Sydney herself, and is excited to be part of a team working towards increasing access to higher education for everyone.
