Field schools and exchanges
Are you looking for an opportunity to travel to and study in Southeast Asia? There are a number of exciting ways that University of Sydney students can participate in exchange programs or field schools in Southeast Asian countries.
Our flagship field schools bring students from different disciplines together to tackle a real-world problem specific to a foreign country in the region. We have taken students to Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Singapore, Timor-Leste and Vietnam.
Other opportunities to travel and study in the region are available through:
- The Australian Consortium for In-Country Indonesian Studies (ACICIS) is available and we encourage students studying Indonesian to access its services. The consortium also offers semester-long programs taught in English in development studies, international studies and Islamic studies and short courses in journalism.
- The School of Geosciences offers a Geography Field School which has already been held in Thailand, Laos, Malaysia and Indonesia.
- The Sydney Law School offers a Southeast Asia Winter School which is run in Malaysia and Indonesia.
- Students at the University's Wesley College can participate in the Overseas Study Experience which involves studying, working and traveling in Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos.
