Schedule 5: English language teaching staff - Casual employment
CASUAL EMPLOYMENT

- Casual staff are those staff who are employed and paid on an hourly basis.

- Casual employment should be on the basis of merit, and be transparent, competitive and consistent with University policy.

- The performance of casual staff may be assessed in accordance with the University’s Performance Management and Development Program.

- The rates of pay for casual staff are specified in Schedule 1. These rates include a 25% loading in lieu of all forms of paid leave, paid public holidays, notice of termination of employment and severance benefits. Casual staff will be paid within 22 days of submitting a valid and completed claim for payment in accordance with University procedures.

- Where a casual staff member has been employed to teach a complete course and the University wishes to terminate their employment before the end of the course, they will given one month’s notice of the date upon which their employment will end, or receive one month’s pay in lieu of notice.
