ORDINARY HOURS OF WORK

Subject to clauses 27 and 28 of this Schedule, the span of ordinary working hours for English language teaching staff will be 8.00am to 6.00pm, Monday to Friday. The ordinary working hours for full-time staff will be 35 hours per week, worked over five days.

Full-time staff will work an average of seven hours each day, which will include face-to-face teaching and other duties according to their classification. On any one day, there will be no more than eight hours between a staff member’s rostered starting time and finishing time.

By agreement between a staff member and the University, the staff member may work their ordinary hours within the span of 8.00am to 9.00pm, Monday to Saturday provided that:

1. face-to-face classes must not be scheduled to finish after 9.00pm; an individual staff member will not be scheduled to teach classes on more than two evenings per week;
2. where a staff member is scheduled to teach a class that finishes at 9.00pm, their face-to-face teaching on the following day should not commence before 11.00am;
3. work performed on a Saturday will constitute one of the five days worked by the staff member; and
4. work performed by agreement in accordance with this clause 28 of this Schedule will be paid at the staff member’s ordinary rate of pay.
