Scholarships at the University of Sydney

We offer more than 500 scholarships to undergraduate students. Our aim is to help you achieve all your goals at the University of Sydney.

University of Sydney Outstanding Achievement Scholarships

You do not need to apply for this scholarship. These scholarships are automatically awarded to students who receive an ATAR (or equivalent) of 99.95. If you are granted one of these scholarships, you will be contacted by mail in December. For detailed information see the Scholarships Office website.

University of Sydney Merit and Entry Scholarships

If you submitted an application, please consult the following timetable:

30 September 2011
Applications close. The Scholarships Office will begin to look at all applications and acknowledgement of applications will begin. Please note that acknowledgement e-mails will not commence prior 30 September 2011.

31 October 2011
Applicants should have received an acknowledgement email. If you have not received an acknowledgement, please contact the Scholarships Office by 18 November 2011.

30 November 2011
Applicants who have been shortlisted will be contacted by their nominated faculties. Unsuccessful letters will be periodically sent out.

December 2011
First round of offers will be sent out to applicants. There will be several rounds of offers from December 2011 to February 2012.

27 February 2012
All applicants should have received an outcome on their application, else please .

University of Sydney First Year Bursary

Awards for first year students
This bursary will be offered to eligible first year students to help with establishment costs at university. Students will be eligible to apply if they are enrolled full-time; are in receipt of Youth Allowance, Austudy or any other Centrelink benefit; and can demonstrate financial need due to one or more of the following: low socio economic status, rural or isolated background, living away from home or a disability.
