How to enrol

If you are an international applicant, find out how to accept your firm offer and enrol.

If you are a domestic applicant, there are five steps you need to take to prepare for your enrolment:

  1. Use the Enrolment Finder to find out the time, date and location of your scheduled enrolment session.
  2. Research your course requirements and the units of study that you either wish to enrol into, or seek academic advice about on enrolment day. This information is available online in the faculty handbooks.
  3. If you were made an offer for a Commonwealth supported place, make sure you understand what that means, and what you are required to do regarding your financial arrangements when you enrol. You can learn more about Commonwealth supported places on the Going to Uni website.
  4. Make sure that you are informed about what is required of you to enrol, and that you attend campus with everything you will need to complete your enrolment.
  5. Attend your scheduled enrolment session in-person (or send in a proxy to act on your behalf) to commence your enrolment at the University of Sydney.

What to bring to enrolment

Here's a checklist of things you will need to bring with you to enrolment:

  • Photo identification
  • UAC offer slip (tear this off from the bottom of your UAC offer letter)
  • Your current address and phone details (including your mobile phone number)
  • The units of study you wish to enrol into or seek academic advice about
  • Your Tax File Number (TFN) or Certificate of Application for a TFN, if you are enrolling as a Commonwealth assisted student

You may also need to bring:

  • If you are a permanent resident, the date your permanent residency was granted
  • Evidence of your new citizenship status if it has recently changed
  • If you are applying for credit or advance standing, documentation of previous study to support your claim, such as academic transcript and unit of study outlines
  • Any other faculty-specific requirement
  • Signed proxy authorisation form (if you are acting as a proxy for an applicant)

Proxy enrolment

If you are unable to attend your scheduled enrolment session, you will need to arrange for another person to act on your behalf. This is called a proxy enrolment.

There are six steps to proxy enrolment:

  1. Check the Enrolment Finder to find out the time, date and location of your scheduled enrolment session.
  2. Select a person who can act on your behalf on enrolment day. This could be a friend, a classmate from school, a parent, a sibling, or another relative.
  3. Complete and sign the Authority for a Person to Act as Proxy form. If you are unable to download the form, please write and sign a letter authorising your nominated person to act as your proxy during enrolment.
  4. Provide clear and comprehensive instructions to your proxy about what they will need to do on enrolment day. Ensure your proxy has all the documents they will need in order to undertake your enrolment. The instructions on the proxy enrolment document will assist you with this.
  5. Your proxy attends your scheduled enrolment session in-person on your behalf.
  6. After enrolment, your proxy will provide you with details of some outstanding enrolment tasks that only you can finalise, such as obtaining your 2012 student card, or submitting a signed Commonwealth Assistance Form. You will need to finalise these as soon as possible.

Proxy enrolment is one of the University’s formal enrolment procedures and a very reliable way to secure your UAC Offer. It is essential that you, or your proxy, enrol at your scheduled enrolment session or you may risk losing your offer.
