Academic preparation
Study skills
The study requirements for university can be quite different from what you have experienced in high school and it is important to be prepared for the change.
Many of you may have perfected your revision techniques during your Year 12 exams, or know how to effectively take notes but what can you do if you don’t?
The Learning Centre offers a number of services and courses to help you prepare for the academically rigorous world of university.
Key academic and uni transition skills are offered during Orientation Week, which will be held in late February (dates TBC).
Academic writing
Another course to consider taking is the Department of English unit of study, Academic Writing.
It is open to students across all faculties and you may be able to gain credit for completing the subject.
The subject will teach you how to write and communicate effectively, and build a persuasive argument for the various writing tasks you will need to complete throughout your university career.
