Getting around the University

Students crosssing the City Road Footbrodge

The University’s main campus (Camperdown and Darlington) is very large, and can be confusing to navigate at first.

Don’t be afraid to ask another student or staff member if you’re not quite sure where to go, and there are also many map guides spread throughout the campus.

The best time to get to know the campus is during O-Week. There are many activities happening at various locations and it is a great opportunity to familiarise yourself to where your classes may be.

The University grounds are open 24 hours a day, seven days a week (although not all buildings, shops and libraries are) and security guards patrol the campus at all times.

What is on campus?

You may have heard before that the University is like a suburb – complete with its own postcode. There is a post office, book store, newsagents, banks and ATMs, plus numerous cafes and eateries (not to mention coffee, coffee, coffee!)

The Union Plaza at the Jane Foss Russell Building houses an art gallery (with another – the Tin Sheds – close by) and has shops, a cafe and a Subway.

There are 11 libraries on campus, with plenty of resources and places to study.

On a warm day, you will find students laying on the grass around the Quadrangle, and there are endless nooks and crannies around the campus where you might find that perfect place to relax, study or just take a break.
