If you believe that your experience may be a police matter, we recommend that you report it to the police. Alternatively, if you feel more comfortable talking to us first you can call us on 1800 SYD HLP (1800 793 457) (option 2).
Where appropriate, we encourage you to first consider taking the following steps toward informal resolution. If you feel informal resolution is not appropriate, you can proceed to make a complaint online.
Approach the person you believe is responsible.
Professional and experienced caseworkers are available to provide you with free, confidential and independent advice, advocacy and support. You can discuss your issue with a caseworker in your student organisation:
Staff in the Student Affairs Unit can discuss your particular circumstances with you before you make a formal complaint. They can help you decide whether to go ahead with a complaint, and answer any questions you may have about the process.
If you are unable to resolve the issue through informal resolution, or would prefer not to talk about your complaint at that time, you can submit a complaint. Complaints can be submitted using one of the options below.
We will work with you towards a timely and effective resolution.
All of the submission options above will result in your complaint being formally recorded in the University's Complaints Management System. Your privacy will be maintained in accordance with the University's Record Keeping Policy.
