Faculty or school credit requirements

Some faculties or schools have additional information you’ll need to know when applying for credit. Check the resolutions in your handbook and relevant information below.

  • Specific and non-specific credit will only be granted for bachelor’s degrees.
  • Prior learning can be credited as RVL for up to seven years.

Before applying for credit, check the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences Credit Provisions 2016.

When assessing an application for credit or RVL, the following factors will be taken into consideration.

  • Units of study completed at TAFE or community colleges are not eligible for credit or RVL.
  • Credit and RVL will not be granted towards the Master or Executive Master of Public Administration or the Master of Human Rights and Democratisation (Asia Pacific Regional Program).
  • RVL will only be granted towards the Master of Commerce and Master of Professional Accounting.
  • Credit is not generally awarded for core units of study. This ensures you have an integrated learning experience and complete all learning outcomes.
  • Credit can only be granted towards the Doctor of Clinical Dentistry. Units of study can be assessed for credit if they were completed in the last five years.
  • RVL is not available.

Only specific credit can be granted for bachelor’s courses.

  • RVL will only be granted towards the Master of Health Science (Developmental Disability) and the Master of Medical Imaging Science.

If you’re enrolled in a master’s degree or graduate diploma:

  • undergraduate units of study, or units conducted on a distance or online basis are not eligible for credit
