University Experience Day

The University Experience Day aims to familiarise Learning for Life students with the idea of attending university and to build their aspirations to do so. The program is in its fourth year and continues to grow.

In 2008 around 200 year 10 and 11 students were part of this program from the following schools which were identified by The Smith Family:

  • Chester Hill High School
  • Auburn Girls High School
  • Miller Technology High
  • Chiefly College
  • Punchbowl Boys High School
  • Seven Hills High School
  • Airds High School
  • James Meehan High School

Students were identified by their schools and Learning for Life Workers were able to choose from over 15 elective sessions. These sessions encompassed a wide range of courses offered by the University of Sydney and offered students an opportunity to see what going to University might be like.

Other activities included:

  • a presentation by a student of the University of Sydney who has also been a Learning for Life student.
  • a University tour
  • and a final Q&A session.
