Bursaries are non-repayable grants, intended to help students who are in financial difficulty. As with loans, bursaries are provided to assist students with essential living and study expenses.
Bursary assistance is available through trusts set up by private benefactors and also the University of Sydney. Bursary recipients are encouraged to make a contribution back to the fund once they have finished their degree so that other students may receive the same benefits.
All students applying for financial assistance will be considered for a bursary.
There are two types of bursaries available to students:
- General bursaries – please see information below.
- Advertised Bursaries – please see the Advertised Bursaries page for more information.
General Bursaries are available to students who are:
- full-time local undergraduate students
- making satisfactory progress (passing all units)
- experiencing financial difficulty
