Macro features include thematic cohesion through information focus and logical flow in an academic paragraph and micro features inlcude lexical cohesion through use of 'referring' words', including pronouns and synonyms.

Unit 8 Critical Thinking will soon contain a section focussed on features of analytic and critical writing

Content - excellent theoretical understanding as all style features are integrated clearly into relevant aspects of text and paragraph purpose and structure; as well as with vocabulary and grammar specific to academic texts. Appearance - good, clear. Design - interactive, navigation satisfactory

Instruction - very easy to read and good explanations and summaries; many comparative model texts with annotations, interactive exercises and activities with corrections.

Helpful Hint - Academic Writing is quite difficult work on all the complex features of academic style. Do it only if you have the basics of text and paragraph structure and cohesion done in Effective Writing.
