The University of Sydney attracts students from all over the world to take part in intensive sessions held during the summer and winter periods between semesters. During summer we offer more than 125 undergraduate and postgraduate subjects from 9 faculties, taught over three sessions. Most subjects are scheduled on campus, some are offered online and a number of study tour units take place overseas. All are for credit to degree courses.
We accept enrolments from currently enrolled students from Australian or overseas tertiary institutions; suitably qualified Australian residents, or international students on a visitor visa.
There are many reasons why students want to study in the summer. Some wish to accelerate their progress towards their certificate, diploma or degree. Others want to catch up on subjects in which they may have been unsuccessful, or to study only one subject intensely, without the distraction of other subjects. Some undertake Summer School because they to take subjects that are outside their normal program to advance other educational interests. Many students tell us that studying one or two subjects over summer means they can manage the demands of their normal semester programs much better. International students frequently enrol in the Summer School after completing their English program or their Study Abroad program and some come for a short international study experience. HSC graduates can also study a first year subject and get a head start on their intended university course.
Due to the intensive nature of Summer and Winter School study, the class sizes are generally much smaller than regular semester. This means that class sizes are limited and students are advised to enrol online early to ensure a place. Enrolments for Summer School open on the 26 September, 2016 and for Winter School open on the 16 May, 2016.
I look forward to welcoming you to our Summer or Winter School at our world class University in one of the world's most beautiful cities. In the meantime, please contact us if you have any queries about our Summer School program or need further information or assistance.
