Donor Recognition Event

Natalie Dietz Quartet

On Wednesday 23 November, 2011, Dr Michael Spence, Vice-Chancellor and Principal hosted a cocktail reception to thank all donors for their valued contribution the University of Sydney, including its faculties and foundations.

The 2011 Donor Recognition Event was a great success with hundreds of donors, staff and students in attendance. Guests enjoyed the live musical performance from the Conservatorium of Music's Natalie Dietz Quartet as well as interactive demonstrations from a range of areas including:

- The Faculty of Health Sciences and the CODCD partnered to provide health and wellbeing assessments. Guests were able to have their blood glucose levels tested on the spot.

- The Save Sight Institute provided a quick macular degeneration assessment by using an Optical Coherence Tomography machine to provide a scan of the retina. Guests were given the rare opportunity to view the macular of their eye on a large monitor.

- The Faculty of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources explored 'How Chocaholics Can Save The World'. Guests were able to sample different chocolates and learn about their cocoa content.

- The Faculty of Engineering and IT presented their interactive tabletop allowing guests to touch and move items displayed on the tabletop screen using gestures.

The event also launched the 2011 'Thank You' video, featuring students, researchers and staff from across campus, all giving us their insight into why they are here at Sydney. The video will be viewable on our website soon.

A big 'Thank You' to all those involved who made the evening such a success. We look forward to seeing even more donors at our event in 2012.
