Complete

  • Performance Management & Development (PM&D) probation meeting with your manager. View PM&D templates and information to help you plan your objectives, key tasks and development activities for the next 12 months. Check out PM&D training and enrol in a "Making the Most of your PM&D" training session or "PM&D for new Reviewers" which is required if you are a new supervisor.
  • The local induction offered by your Faculty or department
  • Local WHS Induction Checklist and health and safety training. Also have a look at the Work Health & Safety website for information on safety procedures relevant to your role and useful contacts.
  • EEO Online Module 1 which outlines the rights and responsibilites of staff to ensure fair play on campus. Managers are required to complete Modules 1 and 2.
  • Browse training and development web pages for other training that is available

  • How to use myHRonline, the University’s self help HR system:

- apply for sick and annual leave, scheduled days off
- update your personal information record
- view your payroll information
- view and calculate your annual leave balances
- view and print payslip
- lodge an OHS incident or injury report

But first you will need to check that you have access to myHRonline and that your details are correct in the system. On your first pay day, check myHRonline for your payslip.

  • How to access your work when away from your desk, eg, phone, email, network drives, etc. Also check Ask Sydney - ICT for answers to some of the questions most frequently asked by staff about the services provided by Information and Communications Technology (ICT).


Organise

  • Enrolment in an Orientation Seminar – brings together new academic and general staff for an introduction to the culture, values, structure and governance of the University of Sydney. See also the Strategy and Leadership website.
  • Role specific training and development e.g. privacy, Hyperion business performance, community engagement, lab safety etc
  • Business cards – don’t forget to add your contact details to the staff directory and order business cards (see the person who is in charge of ordering stationery in your unit)


Review

  • Staff homepage for: notices; links to centralised services and programs; access to Policy Online (database of University policies and procedures), directories and logins to administrative systems
  • HR website for HR information including pay and leave, benefits, advice and support
  • Faculty/unit website
