Career Transition
In this rapidly changing world of work it is important to consider career planning and your professional development. Your PM&D provides the opportunity to discuss this with your supervisor.
Keeping your professional skills and knowledge current will assist in allowing you to operate successfully in your career as well as the ability to transition to another career. The continuing acquisition of knowledge or skills throughout life can happen formally or informally, via education, training, work and general life experiences.
Welcome to the University's Career Transition Program
As the University moves towards achieving the objectives and strategic plans outlined in the White Paper we keep in mind the importance of nurturing the talent of not only our students, yet also our staff. In doing so, the University has developed a program which aims to retain the skills, knowledge and experience of our people.
This program is exclusively offered to staff members whose substantive positions have been impacted by change or declared redundant due to organisational reform.
The Career Transition program aims to develop our staff by providing them with career transition techniques through a series of workshops, private consultations and group seminars. A range of topics are covered including career planning, resume preparation and effective interview skills to name a few.
In addition, the program offers a redeployment service into a variety of positions including permanent, fixed term, secondments, rotations and casual opportunities. The program provides assistance in the transference of skills, experience and capability of talented staff members into alternate positions across the University. In doing so the University is providing a deeply enriched working environment fostering professional career development and job security.
During times of change, it is important to reflect on how we may effectively contribute to the University’s overall objectives. In doing so, staff members should consider their professional strengths, opportunities for development and align their professional development to the needs of the University. The University aims to ensure the wealth of experience, skills, knowledge and capability of talented staff members are retained and nurtured in a diverse and rewarding workplace.
