Background
Normal free radical polymerisation only allows the preparation of random copolymers. These have been explored extensively to provide solutions to all sorts of problem over many decades. Controlled radical polymerisation allows much more control over polymer architecture.
The invention
We have adapted RAFT controlled radical polymerisation for use in disperse phase systems.
Applications
The invention has application almost anywhere polymers are used: Cosmetics, textiles, fragrances, inkjet printing, optical devices, paper manufacture applications, barrier products (surgical gloves, condoms, etc.), image reproduction, anti terror devices, radar absorbing paint, original finish automotive paint and agrochemicals.
