Nominations 2018 Fund Prize

Nominations are now closed for the award of the Sir Zelman Cowen Universities Fund Prize for 2018.  

The Prize, which recognizes discovery in medical research, is awarded in alternate years at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and at the University of Sydney. For the 2018 Prize, nominations were invited from scientists working at the University of Sydney. Nominations were made according to guidelines set out below.

  • The Prize, which will comprise an award of AUS$20,000 and a medal, will be for discovery in medical research performed principally at the University of Sydney.
  • Nominees should have made a major contribution to the understanding or treatment of disease.
  • The nomination should have identified the potential or achievement of the discovery for therapeutic outcomes.
  • Nominees should have been 45 years of age or younger at 31 December 2017 and should have been Australian citizens or holders of Permanent Residency status.
  • It is anticipated that the award will be announced in March/April 2018.
  • The prize will be awarded in a ceremony at the University of Sydney.
