Animalia 2009 featured a border collie with talent, a couple of cheeky cockatiels, an agility dog troupe and a splendid wedgetailed eagle.
In an Orwellian twist the animals took over the University’s bastion of human intellect, the revered walls of the Quadrangle.

Animalia might focus on the animals but it’s the musical talent that gives the night its uplifting edge. 2010 will be no exception. With a career spanning four decades, legendary entertainer Leo Sayer will captivate Animalia guests with an amazing live show featuring his uniquely powerful and recognisable voice.
CELEBRATING 40 YEARS IN MUSIC
With a career spanning four decades, legendary entertainer Leo Sayer has sold millions of albums around the world and has had 20 worldwide top ten hits during his career, many of these self-penned, and he continues to entertain audiences with an amazing live show featuring his uniquely powerful and recognisable voice. Since his first tour down under in the early ‘70s Leo fell in love with Australia and in 2009 became an Australian citizen.
Currently Leo is on tour in the UK on the ONE IN A LIFETIME 2010 TOUR sharing the bill with The Osmonds, David Essex, and Bay City Rollers, playing to capacity arena crowds.
Animalia’s new talent in 2010 is Ruby for Lucy. With two guitars and shiny voices Ruby for Lucy tell stories through lovely folk harmony. One day they found that their songs were just like pictures, so now they hand them up on stages, just to see what people think.
Guests will enjoy a Champagne reception on arrival on the Quadrangle lawns at Sydney University followed by a three course dinner from European Catering in the historic and beautiful MacLaurin Hall.
