Teaching Areas

Teaching and Research Interests

Dr Fawcett is interested in all aspects of small animal practice, in particular general practice, veterinary ethics, small animal husbandry, evidence-based medicine and the human animal bond.

In addition to teaching at the University, she is currently employed as a small animal clinician in private practice.

Contribution to the Profession and the Community

  • Founding member of the Human Animal Research Network (HARN)
  • Volunteer for AMRRIC (Animal Management in Rural and Remote Indigenous Communities)
  • Volunteer for at the Sydney Royal Easter Show for the Royal Agricultural Society.
  • Journalist for The Veterinarian Magazine.
  • Contributor, The Sydney Morning Herald.
  • Book reviewer, Journal of Small Animal Practice.

In addition, Dr Fawcett has contributed to range of general publications within Australia (The Dogs and Puppies Annual, The Cats and Kittens Annual) and overseas (Critters USA, Rabbits USA) aimed at educating pet owners about the health and wellbeing of their animals.
She has given lectures to organisations and interest groups including RSPCA New South Wales and staff at Taronga Zoo about the husbandry of pocket pets.
