Biographical details

Anke is a veterinary graduate of the Freie Universität Berlin, Germany. During her doctorate at the Leibniz Institute for Zoo and Wildlife Research (IZW) and her working experience as scientific coordinator of the German Research Platform for Zoonoses she developed a keen interest in risk assessment, epidemiology, and infectious diseases at the wildlife-livestock-human interface. After relocating to Australia in 2012, Anke joined the Veterinary Public Health Management program at the University of Sydney and conducted her master’s research project in collaboration with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO). As a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the faculty she investigated risk perception and mitigation strategies of horse owners in regard to Hendra virus. Her current role involves research into emerging infectious diseases and One Health as well as teaching in the areas of evidence-based practice and veterinary public health.
