APSS 2016 Venues
This year the Australian Poultry Science Symposium will again be held at the Veterinary Science Conference Centre on Regimental Drive, at the University of Sydney, Camperdown Campus. Paper Presentations, Tea Breaks and Lunch will be delivered here daily. The Post-Graduate Welcome BBQ will also be held directly outside the building on the Round House Lawns.
Sunday nights Pre-Registration evening and "The 'Grate' Debate" will be held at the Rydges Hotel Camperdown, with canapes and drinks being served.
As was originally planned last year, the Symposium Dinner will be held at the Australian National Maritime Museum, in Pyrmont. We will start off the evening with canapes on board the ex-Naval destroyer HMAS Vampire. Perfect for photo opportunities and pre-dinner drinks, the helipad of HMAS Vampire is a unique and unforgettable vantage point. Dinner will be hosted in a stunning waterfront room with floor-to-ceiling windows showcasing spectacular views of Darling Harbour and the city skyline.
We have yet again created a map on Google specifically for APSS 2016, where you can view all of the locations that the conference will take place, numerous options for accommodation, as well as suggested walking routes. Click Here to view.
Veterinary Science Conference Centre
The Veterinary Science Conference Centre (VSCC) is a triple-storey building that contains the Webster Lecture Theatre, where all of our paper presentations will take place; Palfrey Room, where you will be able to register and submit your powerpoint presentations throughout the week; as well as a number of meeting rooms, which can be booked by sponsor companies for breakfast presentations or lunch time meetings.
As mentioned above, the Post Graduate BBQ will be held just outside the building on the Round House Lawns (pictured below) on Monday evening.
Located on the ground floor of the hotel, The Bligh Room will host the opening evening of the APSS Conference, with pre-registration and "The 'GRATE' Debate". However, most importantly it is conveniently located to all Hotel facilities, making this venue the most popular choice of accommodation for delegates attending the symposium. Discounted rates are available with our special "Corporate ID" available on our Accommodation Page.
Registrations will take place right outside the Bligh Room, with the drinks and canapes to be served inside prior to the Debate.
The Symposium Dinner is always a fabulous event and 2016 will be no exception. This year we will be heading to the Australian National Maritime Museum, right next to Pyrmont Bridge in the heart of the city.
The evening will begin with 1 hour of canapes and pre-dinner drinks on board the HMAS Vampire which is moored in Darling Harbour. The helipad on the ships deck offers uninterrupted views of the harbour and Cockle Bay.
This will be followed by dinner in the waterfront Terrace Room, overlooking the museums ship collection, with more spectacular views of the harbour and city skyline. Brilliant by day, dazzling by night.
Bus transfers will be organised to and from Rydges hotel to the venue as part of the function, however spaces are limited so make sure you buy your tickets early to avoid missing out on this wonderful social evening.
