A dermoid is a mass of normal skin that is growing in an abnormal location. Ocular dermoids in cats usually occur on the conjunctiva and cornea of the eye, and sometimes on the edge of the eyelid. Dermoids may be present on one or both eyes. The mass may have long hairs growing from its surface, which can rub the surface of the eye (cornea), and may cause irritation, pain and excessive tear production.
