Disorder - Ectromelia

Organ Systems Involved
Musculoskeletal

Brief Description
Affected dogs are born with either a whole limb, or part of a limb, missing. The problem may be present in more than one limb.

Presenting Signs
Lameness will result due to the absence of a whole or a part of a limb. The remaining limbs have to bear an abnormal load and may be more susceptible to problems such as arthritis later in life. If more than one limb is absent, the animal may not be able to walk at all.
