University of Sydney Pet Fair 09
The Pet Fair took place on Saturday, 29 August, this time with the newly featured My Cat Goes to University Cat Show, showcasing up to 15 different cat breeds. The Pet Fair 09 was an enormous success with 4000 people in attendance and many accompanying pets, including dogs, cats, ferrets, rabbits or ducks!
Key Attractions
The crowd enjoyed the tours of our state-of-the-art facilities at the Veterinary Teaching Hospital Sydney, as well as all the entertainment organised for the day, including NSW Police Defender Dog demonstrations, jumping castle, face painters, doggy toe nail painting, pet competitions and of course the trusty sausage sizzle!

My Cat goes to University
The My cat goes to University cat show was extremely popular, where one lucky cat received The Dean’s Award; awarded by the Dean, Prof Leo Jeffcott. Other lucky recipients were the “Coolest Cat” and “Smoochiest Cat”, awarded by the Teaching Hospital’s Feline Specialists Dr Vanessa Barrs and A/Prof Julia Beatty.

Wildlife, Exotic and Domestic
The wildlife and exotic displays were a hit with the kids; they enjoyed petting the rabbits, guinea pigs, ferrets, mice & rats, dogs & cats, goats and stick insects.

Competitions Judges
Channel Seven Celebrity Vet Dr Rachele Lowe, Prof Paul Canfield and VetSoc President Todd Dewberry judged the competitions including ‘Most like its owner”, “Best trick”, “Cutest” and “Best Dressed” pets. The judges found it so hard to pick a winner they asked the audience to vote!
