The Great Hall has been used for a variety of events over its 150 years, including staging plays. Below are a few examples of the productions staged.
Aeschylus’ play Agamemnon was staged in the Great Hall in June 1886. Despite women attending the University since 1882, all the roles were played by men.

Sydney University Drama Society (SUDS)
The SUDS was founded in 1889 and is the oldest continuing theatre company in Australia. SUDS now stages the majority of its shows in the Cellar Theatre – positioned underneath the Holme Building.
