Headlines

From technological breakthrough to commercialisation
It was a dramatic breakthrough in medical technology: an objective assessment method that improves the diagnosis of glaucoma and other eye diseases.  The next challenge was to move the technology from the laboratory into the global marketplace.

The road to strong and prosperous future
What makes one culture prosperous and successful while another is weak and unsuccessful? Australia’s challenge is to create a global reputation of intellectual endeavour, research, development and commercialisation, and support for winning global markets.

Warren Centre Innovation Heroes Award
Announcing a new award to be presented to Australian citizens, who have developed a new technology, turned it into a product or service, raised sufficient capital, and launched the product onto the market.

Projects

Removing the barriers to sustainable transport
How do you organise a city to deliver sustainable transport? Alternate institutional arrangements include: stronger local government, a short-term Commission of Sydney, ‘outcome’ ministries, and the amalgamation of transport and planning departments.

Winging it: fast rail is more sustainable than air travel
A Very High Speed Train could link centres within Sydney (itself a City of Cities) and regional centres more sustainably and support economic development … and defer the need for a second airport.
