FIRST AID TRAINING

Under the University’s Policy on First Aid and associated procedures the University appoints Nominated First Aid Officers in each major building. The number of Nominated First Aid Officers required in each building depends on factors such as the layout and configuration of the building and the types of activities carried out in the building. OHS & Injury Management coordinates the training and appointment of Nominated First Aid Officers.

Members of staff who wish to be considered for training and appointment as Nominated First Aid Officers require the support of their Head of Department, as the applicable salary loading is paid from Departmental funds.

See Section 2.2 Selection of Staff to be Appointed as Nominated First Aid Officers and Section 2.3 Training and Appointment of Nominated First Aid Officers for further information on the criteria to be met and the training and appointment process.

CPR Training

Q. Do you know what to do if the person beside you collapses from a heart attack?
A. If you had a sudden cardiac arrest would you want some help?

CPR (cardio pulmonary resuscitation) is a basic skill that can save lives. CPR awareness sessions are run regularly throughout the year - watch out for notices in Staff News or visit the Learning Solutions website for dates of forthcoming sessions.

Sessions can also be organised on request. Contact the OHS & Injury Management team

At the sessions you will find out about Automated Electronic Defibrillators (AEDs) that have been installed in key locations on all University campuses.
