Kuala Lumpur 2006
The University's inaugural graduation ceremony in Malaysia was held on 20 September. More than 100 graduates and guests attended the ceremony held in the heart of Kuala Lumpur city. Guest speaker, the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Malaya, Datuk Rafiah Salim, provided an inspiring speech to the graduates recognizing their success.
University of Sydney alumni renewed their contacts with old friends and classmates as well as Deans of their faculties on 19 September. The Deputy Vice-Chancellor (International) and Deans of the Faculties of Agriculture and Natural Resources, Dentistry, Economics and Business, Engineering, Health Sciences, Nursing and Midwifery shared in many success stories of our alumni in Malaysia.
Eminent alumnus Tan Sri Datuk Dr Omar Abdul Rahman took the group on a journey into the early days of an international student’s life in Sydney. See full copy of Dr Tan’s speech here.
The University of Sydney is committed to building on its existing links and to enhance its engagement with Malaysia through new research, education and training programs.
To strengthen links and relationships with its Malaysia partners in government, business and higher education, a dinner was held on 20 September. The Minister of Higher Education, YB Dato’ Mustapa Mohamed who delivered the address at this function also witnessed the signing of two agreements at dinner : -
1. Memorandum of Understanding with the University of Malaya
2. Memorandum of Understanding with the Universiti Sains Malaysia.
