Singapore 2006
For the past eight years, The University of Sydney has held graduation ceremonies in Singapore, and the 2006 Singapore Ceremony on 28 Septemberwas attended by 80 graduates. Representatives from local universities and hospitals attended the ceremony acknowledging the strong connections between the University and its Singapore partners.
Professor Shih Choon Fong, President of the National University of Singapore, addressed the Sydney graduates and provided insights into the challenges facing the global economy of the 21st Century. See full copy of speech here.
Eminent University of Sydney alumnus Dr Kenson Kwok, Director of the Asian Civilisations Museum Singapore addressed 170 alumni in Singapore at a reception on 27 September. In his speech, Dr Kwok said "Going to school and university in Sydney opened up a whole new world of possibilities, and set me off on the track that would eventually lead to my working in a museum."
A Memorandum of Understanding and a Student Exchange Agreement was signed by Professor Hearn, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (International) of the University of Sydney and Professor Er Meng Hwa, Acting Provost of Nanyang Technological University.
