Our professional learning programs support increased individual and collective efficacy of school teachers and leaders.

Leading Excellence

Leading Excellence extends the individual and collective efficacy of school leaders. In 2017 the program was NESA accredited and drew on leading University of Sydney expertise through the National Centre for Cultural Competence, Coaching Psychology Unit and the Sydney School of Education and Social Work to encourage increased understanding of cultural competence, quality coaching conversations and relational trust to build and ensure school cultures of excellence and transformative student outcomes. This program is for school principals only.

MadMaker

Professional learning to enhance teacher delivery of the six-week MadMaker program and use the Arduino Esplora boards. This course is
NESA accredited.

Advancing Science and Engineering through Laboratory Learning

Advancing Science and Engineering through Laboratory Learning (ASELL) is a teacher professional learning program, supporting teachers in enhancing student learning from experiments. It is part of the Federal Government's Australian Maths and Science Partnerships Program (AMSPP) and aims to create and sustain professional networks of science teachers and university staff. ASELL
increases classroom teachers' capacity to deliver effective inquiry-based lab practical's through professional learning. This course is NESA accredited.

STEM Teacher Enrichment Academy

The STEM Teacher Enrichment Academy brings together expertise from the Education and Social Work, Science, and Engineering and Information Technologies faculties to help build the nation's STEM capacity through teacher enrichment and professional learning. This course is NESA accredited.

National Computer Science School (NCSS) Challenge

Receive professional learning in the coding systems used in the NCSS challenge, enhancing teacher delivery of the five-week challenge.

Digital Narrative Professional Learning - 'Now See Hear'

'Now See Hear' is a hands-on workshop run by The Sydney Story Factory, teaching strategies and tricks that will help you implement digital storytelling projects with your students. This one day professional learning course is flexible and adaptable for a variety of different student needs and is NESA accredited. Teachers taking part in our Digital Narrative Program for Year 9 must attend this Professional Learning.

ASTAR.TV Professional Learning

An introductory session to our ASTAR website, outlining its benefits for students, teachers, and school communities and the academic enrichment resources available. See how ASTAR.TV can be used as a contemporary online platform for encouraging secondary students to
explore and share their own personal narratives through a range of mediums. Through this sharing process, ASTAR.TV provides stimulus for students to discuss different perspectives and representations of culture as well as contributing their own.

Literacy and Numeracy Professional Learning

We are committed to supporting schools in their work to increase Literacy and Numeracy outcomes for students, particularly in Years 7-9. A range of teacher professional learning opportunities in these subject areas will be offered to teachers of these year groups over 2018.

Professional learning to enhance teacher delivery of the five-week Preparation for NAPLAN program. Suitable for Year 7 and Year 9 NAPLAN teachers.
