Discover Uni

A campus experience for Year 6 students preparing them for the transition to high school. Students link their interests to their future career opportunities through interactive faculty-based activities and hands-on learning. Parents are welcome to attend and learn more about how to support their child’s transition to high school.

Part of this day is also about celebrating students’ transitioning to high school and parents are encouraged to attend.

As a result of the Year 6 Discover Uni program, students will show improvements in:

  • awareness of the opportunities available to them at university
  • decision-making confidence in relation to higher education
  • associations between interests, careers and higher education

Delivery: Campus experience 10am-2pm

Digital Storytelling

A digital storytelling tool for students to explore creative and/or reflective writing. This online resource is for teachers and delivery in your classroom can be supported by University of Sydney student volunteers across a series of in-school workshops on request. Teacher professional learning sessions are available in support of the program.

National Computer Science School (NCSS) Challenge

Want to introduce coding to your classroom? This is an exciting five-week, step-by-step, in-school program run by the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technologies. Your class will learn how to code and improve their digital literacy. Teacher professional learning is available to support the running of this program in your school.

As a result of the NCSS Challenge, students will show improvements in:

  • technical knowledge and confidence
  • ability to code using Python 3.4
  • confidence and motivation at school
