We're introducing a new postgraduate course in 2020 focusing on the delivery of digital technologies in classrooms.

Enhance your skills and expertise in teaching the Australian Curriculum: Digital Technologies through our new Master of Education (Digital Technologies). 

The program will provide you with an in-depth understanding of fundamental computer science concepts such as digital systems and data representation, algorithm design and implementation through professional development and training, and strategic planning and school leadership.

This program is unique for developing Technological, Pedagogical Content Knowledge (TPACK) as well as strategies for leading the adoption and implementation of the new Australian Curriculum: Digital Technologies.

The program is suitable for aspiring school leaders, and for teachers seeking further accreditation in the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers.

Course structure and duration

Starting dates: First offered in 2020, Semester 1 (February) and Semester 2 (August).
Duration: 1 year full time (48 credit points), also available part time.
Delivery mode: This flexible degree can be completed fully online.

Admission requirements

  • a Bachelor of Education from the University of Sydney or equivalent qualification and either the completion of postgraduate studies, or professional experience equivalent to one year full-time in a field considered by the Sydney School of Education and Social Work to be appropriate to the program of study; or
  • a bachelor's degree and either the Diploma in Education or Bachelor of Teaching or Master of Teaching from the University of Sydney or equivalent qualification; or
  • a bachelor's degree from the University of Sydney or equivalent qualification and either the completion of postgraduate studies in Education, or professional experience equivalent to two years’ full-time in a field considered by the Sydney School of Education and Social Work to be appropriate to the program of study.

If you do not meet the requirements listed above for direct entry to the master’s degree, you may be able to enter via a graduate certificate or graduate diploma in the same subject area and upgrade to the master’s degree after successful completion of the shorter course.
