The Fauvette Loureiro Memorial Scholarship Exhibition

Celebrating the legacy of the Fauvette Loureiro Memorial Scholarship, this exhibition highlights the work of SCA graduates and scholarship recipients, showcasing their talent and contribution to contemporary art.

Exhibition opening: Wednesday, 25 September, 6 pm – 8 pm

The Fauvette Loureiro Memorial Scholarships offer support to Sydney College of Arts (SCA) graduates, enabling them to pursue professional development through international or domestic travel. Open to all SCA alumni, the scholarships consist of two categories: a $10,000 Emerging Scholarship and a $30,000 Mid-career/Established Scholarship.

Drawing from the rich talent pool of SCA graduates, the Fauvette exhibition has earned a strong reputation for showcasing high-quality contemporary art. The recipients and finalists include some of the most notable contemporary artists in Australia. 

Past recipients: Marley Dawson (Mid-career/Established, 2023), Danica I. J. Knežević (Emerging, 2023), Fassih Keiso (Mid-career/Established, 2022), Elwira Skowronska (Emerging, 2022), Emily Hunt (Mid-career/Established, 2021), Pamela Pirovic (Emerging, 2021), Yasmin Smith (Mid-career/Established, 2020), Kalanjay Dhir (Emerging, 2020)  Chris Dolman (2019), Penelope Cain (2018), Nick Dorey (2017), Biljana Jancic (2016), Julian Day (2015), Jonny Niesche (2014), Vicky Browne (2013), Mark Shorter (2012),  Alanna Hunt, (2011), Justene Williams (2010), Kenzee Patterson (2009), Will French (2008), Rachel Scott (2007), Jess MacNeil (2006), Huseyin Sami (2005), Judith Duquemin (2004) and Juliana Bartulin (2003). 

An incredible lineup of 10 artists across two categories have been selected for The Fauvette Loureiro Memorial Scholarship 2024. 

Mid-Career/Established Finalists: Elizabeth Day, Andrew Hazewinkel, Anna John, Leigh Rigozzi, Tony Schwensen, Magnetic Topographies. 

Emerging Finalists: Ciaran Begley, Szymon Dorabialski, Gillian Kayrooz, Charles Levi. 

The finalists were selected by an esteemed judging panel including Associate Professor Andrew Lavery, Co-Chair and Co-Director, SCA, Professor Mikala Dwyer, Fine Art, RMIT University, and Dr Mark Shorter, Senior Lecturer and Head of Sculpture at the Victorian College of Arts.

Two scholarship recipients will be announced at the exhibition opening on Wednesday 25 September 2024.
