Congratulations to Dr Claire O’Callaghan on receiving a Robinson fellow. Claire is a researcher working across cognitive and clinical neuroscience at the Brain and Mind Centre.
A focus of her current program is to combine neuroimaging and pharmacological manipulations.
Claire's most recent paper is led by PhD student Isabella Orlando, colleague Associate Professor Mac Shine, and collaborators from the University of Cambridge. The paper offers a novel perspective on how certain ascending neuromodulatory systems are affected in neurodegenerative diseases of ageing, and what this means for developing personalised medicine strategies.
Doctor Claire O'Callaghan
Schemes supporting early career researchers are so exciting to me – seeing researchers have the chance to really develop their own ideas and build their teams. The Robinson is a great example of such a scheme, and I’m very excited to have the opportunity.
"Claire is an outstanding recipient for a Robinson Fellowship. Having developed new approaches in understanding neuropsychiatric symptoms and mechanisms of disease during her postdoctoral years in Cambridge, the Fellowship will further enhance her research at the Brain and Mind Centre," said Co-Director of the Brain and Mind Centre Professor Matthew Kiernan.
Claire is also the recipient of the NHMRC Investigator Grant (2023) and a Brain and Mind Centre Development Grant (2020).
The Robinson Fellowships work to support and retain high achieving early-career academics by creating a pathway towards continuing teaching and research positions.
