Professor Matthew Kiernan receives Ramaciotti Medal

Co-director of Brain and Mind Centre honoured in award ceremony
Congratulations to Professor Matthew Kiernan on receiving the Ramaciotti Medal in recognition of his extensive research into neurodegenerative diseases including dementia and motor neurone disease.

Professor Matthew Kiernan is the recipient of the 2022 Ramaciotti Medal for Excellence and the associated $50,000 award. Matthew is considered one of Australia’s most prominent clinical neurologists and neuroscientists. 

‘The Ramaciotti award reflects the great support that I have received from friends, colleagues and teachers at the Brain and Mind Centre, at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital and the Sydney Local Health District, from faculties across the University of Sydney, and from engagement with national and international networks - I am very grateful.’

The Ramaciotti Medal is an annual award that honours an individual who has made an outstanding contribution to clinical or experimental biomedical research that has had an important impact on biomedical science, clinical science, or the way in which healthcare is delivered.
