Throughout your MBA, our Career Services will provide you with coaching, career management tools and resources to help you refine your professional goals and navigate the recruitment process.

Our Career Services have been designed to assist all MBA students to manage their careers effectively. Our team will work directly with you to help you achieve the next steps in your career strategy.

Career services for MBA students

Our MBA career services are underpinned by a personal career management plan tailored specifically to you. We work with you to help you realise your leadership potential through all stages of your career development, starting with self-assessment and developing your personal brand to customised job-search strategies, interview techniques and advice on job offer negotiations.

Through a variety of workshops, events, career tools and other resources we will help you discover the career path that will give you the greatest personal fulfilment and facilitate your contribution to the greater good.

The MBA Careers Coaching Panel aims to provide premier personal and professional development, offering reliable and quality coaching services every time.

We have partnered with the experienced coaches on our panel to provide reputable, expert services for leadership and talent development, redeployment and outplacement, and workshop facilitation.

A structured program of professional development workshops covering subjects ranging from media training and building resilience to crafting a TED Talk.

We also provide resources and opportunities to connect students to a wide variety of industry leaders through various initiatives on and off-campus, including:

  • presentations and panel events with industry leaders and potential employers
  • networking events with leading organisations
  • roundtable sessions with business leaders and alumni across a number of industries
  • industry conferences.

The University of Sydney Business School aims to provide access to all the information you'll need to achieve your career goals.  You can access this through our MBA Career Services Manager tool Symplicity:

  • Employment reports – Including class profiles; past Sydney University MBA hires by function, industry, and location; and major employers and job sources of Sydney University MBA students from the past five years.
  • Career resources  Access to both print and online tools to aid you in your research of industries, companies, contacts and news, including the MBA-Exchange job board.
  • Resume databases – We archive resumes from previous Sydney University MBA classes. You can search the database to find examples of successful resumes for all types of jobs and experience.
  • Career newsletters – We offer a number of timely email newsletters designed to provide you with the latest job postings and career management tactics, and to share the latest employer news.
  • Connect with alumni – through our MBA Student Association eMBAssy we offer the opportunity to be mentored by an alumni of the Global Executive MBA.

Career services for employers

  • Advertise jobs – Advertise your brand and gain access to our MBA students by promoting vacant positions on our secure jobs board. The board is provided to current and past University of Sydney MBA students in Australia. The service is free to companies but all advertised positions must be approved and appropriate for our students in terms of remuneration, professional level and title.
  • Resume database – Our complimentary Resume Books are designed to help you identify and make contact with individuals who fit the profile you are looking to hire. In this way, you can better target your recruitment efforts.
  • Connect with alumni clubs and associations – Get in touch with eMBAssy to advertise specific job opportunities or express your interest in sponsoring an event. Targeting a select group of students is a great way for you to recruit and build your brand profile on campus.
  • Focus your recruitment strategy – We will work with you to create a strategy that suits your exact needs and will help you to attain your recruiting objectives. Helping you focus on the right approach can build visibility with our students and market your job opportunities effectively.
  • Tailored recruitment at the University of Sydney – Our Careers and Corporate Relations Manager will develop a plan with you and your organisation that correlates directly with your recruiting goals.
  • CBD Campus recruiting – Recruiting from the student body at our CBD Campus is an efficient and effective way to hire students from our evening MBA and weekend MBA programs. Our first MBA graduates were available from mid-2015 and profiles can be found in our Resume Books by emailing business.mba-careers@sydney.edu.au.

Work with our highly skilled MBA students to address strategic challenges your organisation is facing. In addition to internships, through which students work within organisations, employers can also collaborate with students on business sustainability projects across a range of sectors.
