Study tours and immersion programs

Prepare yourself for a global career
We facilitate a wide variety of opportunities to deepen your understanding of how business impacts Australia and the world.

A unique program delivered in collaboration with Boston Consulting Group that includes a short study program at New York's NYU Stern School of Business. 

The overall program will focus on Design Thinking Methodology, allowing students to develop their academic, social, cultural, and professional skills to position them for a successful global career.

You will work on real-world projects in conjunction with Boston Consulting Group, gaining exposure to design thinking theories and processes which are regularly used in organisations, governments and markets in the US as well as globally. You will apply your business knowledge to understand, recommend and reflect on issues and challenges directly related to US business culture.

Students are expected to apply their cross-cultural, research and collaborative skills as well as their critical thinking skills when completing projects of strategic importance to the start-up design project that they have chosen.

Students will be fully supported for the duration of the program by an academic from the Business School and a business consultant. Students will receive a total of 6 credit points towards their degree by successfully completing the relevant Business School unit of study.

Undergraduate students

Explore Shanghai, experience Chinese culture classes, and have networking and mentoring opportunities with local business executives as this program introduces you to the Future of Business in China. 

The program has been designed to introduce students to the future of business in China and is a pathway towards more complex Work Integrated Learning programs.

Students will receive a total of 6 credit points towards their degree by successfully completing the relevant Business School unit of study and be fully supported for the duration of the program by an academic from the Business School.

Postgraduate students

Postgraduate students at the Business School have the opportunity to spend their winter break on a short-term study tour program in China, working with the award-winning China innovation platform, China Australia Millennial Project (CAMP).

The program incorporates a pre-departure workshop in Sydney, 2 weeks in Shanghai from 2-14 December 2019 and an online re-entry debrief learning experience. Students will receive a total of 6 credit points towards their degree by successfully completing the relevant Business School unit of study and be fully supported for the duration of the program by an academic from the Business School.

This program is designed to allow students to develop a start-up idea from business challenge question to team pitch and augment their understanding of starting a global business with an in-country experience in China. Students work on real-world problems facing organisations, governments and markets in China and businesses engaging with China.

In this short-term research program you will spend two weeks in Singapore working in teams to understand and analyse an important demographic trend that impacts businesses, societies and markets. 

This program in Singapore is highly experiential and thematic and aims to develop your cultural understanding of a context for research purposes. Immersing yourself in a cultural context develops your cultural competence and resilience in dealing with a new environment. 

Students will receive a total of 6 credit points towards their degree by successfully completing the relevant Business School unit of study and be fully supported for the duration of the program by an academic from the Business School.

Undergraduate students

This study tour to India provides an opportunity for undergraduate students to engage with diplomacy awareness and global perspective through a 14 day in-country program.

The mobility program will provide practical experiences within Indian corporate and non-for-profit organisations that will enable you to apply your theoretical knowledge to gain global perspective in industry emerging trends and experience work and life in India.

Students will receive a total of 6 credit points towards their degree by successfully completing the relevant Business School unit of study and be fully supported for the duration of the program by an academic from the Business School.

VC Global Mobility scholarships are available to eligible students.

Undergraduate students

Supported by a grant from the Southeast Asia Centre, this tour will allow you to undertake a cultural and responsible business immersion experience in one of Southeast Asia’s fastest emerging markets, the Philippines.

The program will allow you to better understand Philippine culture, responsible business practices and social enterprise projects that aim to positively impact on community well-being, economics, social reform and policy.

Students will receive a total of 6 credit points towards their degree by successfully completing the relevant Business School unit of study and be fully supported for the duration of the program by an academic from the Business School.

VC Global Mobility scholarships are available to eligible students.
