You must:
- be a domestic student
- have been enrolled in the first year in one of the courses listed under clause 2.a. at the University of Sydney in 2025.
Bachelor of Applied Science (Diagnostic Radiography);
Bachelor of Applied Science (Exercise and Sport Science);
Bachelor of Applied Science (Exercise Physiology);
Bachelor of Applied Science (Occupational Therapy);
Bachelor of Applied Science (Physiotherapy);
Bachelor of Applied Science (Speech Pathology);
Bachelor of Pharmacy (Honours) and Master of Pharmacy Practice; and
Bachelor of Pharmacy and Management (Honours) and Master of Pharmacy Practice
- identify as an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person as per The University of Sydney's Confirmation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Identity Policy 2015.
The NSW Ministry of Health Allied Health Scholarship was established in 2025 from a donation from the NSW Ministry of Health to support first or second year Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students. This scholarship has been donated by NSW Ministry of Health.
1. Background
a. The NSW Ministry of Health Allied Health Scholarship was established in 2025 from a donation from the NSW Ministry of Health to support first or second year Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students at the University who are at the risk of withdrawing from their university course due to financial barriers or personal circumstances.
b. This Scholarship has been donated by NSW Ministry of Health.
2. Eligibility
a. Applicants must be currently enrolled full-time in one of the following undergraduate courses at the University:
I. Bachelor of Applied Science (Diagnostic Radiography);
II. Bachelor of Applied Science (Exercise and Sport Science);
III. Bachelor of Applied Science (Exercise Physiology);
IV. Bachelor of Applied Science (Occupational Therapy);
V. Bachelor of Applied Science (Physiotherapy);
VI. Bachelor of Applied Science (Speech Pathology);
VII. Bachelor of Pharmacy (Honours) and Master of Pharmacy Practice; and
VIII. Bachelor of Pharmacy and Management (Honours) and Master of Pharmacy Practice
b. Applicants must have been enrolled in the first year in one of the courses listed under clause 2.a. at the University of Sydney in 2025.
b. Applicants must identify as an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person as per University of Sydney Confirmation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Policy 2015.
3. Selection Criteria
a. The Scholarship will be awarded on the basis of:
I. a personal statement demonstrating commitment to the study of the selected course.
II. Evidence of experiencing financial hardship by demonstrating one or more of the below:
i. low socio-economic status such as Centrelink payments,
ii. carer responsibilities,
iii. long-term medical condition/disability (including ongoing effects of abuse),
iv. sole-parent responsibilities,
v. regional or remote disadvantage.
b. Preference will be given to applicants from rural or regional locations in Australia and who are at risk of withdrawing from their University course due to financial barriers or personal circumstances.
a. The Scholarship will be awarded by the Faculty of Medicine and Health (FMH) Associate Dean (Education) or their nominated delegates.
4. Value
a. The Scholarship is valued at $8,000 per annum.
b. The Scholarship annual value will be paid as a one-off payment upon receipt of the signed acceptance form.
c. Deferral of the Scholarship is not permitted, and it is not transferable to another University school, faculty or university.
d. The Scholarship will be offered subject to the availability of funds.
e. No other amount is payable.
5. Termination
a. The Scholarship will be terminated if the recipient:
I. withdraws from an eligible course or fails to enrol,
II. does not maintain satisfactory academic performance,
III. is determined by the University to be guilty of serious misconduct, including, but not limited to, having provided false or misleading information as part of their Scholarship application,
IV. accepts an alternative scholarship, administered by the University of Sydney, valued at $8,000 per annum or more for the same purpose as this Scholarship, or
V. does not resume study at the end of a period of approved leave.
b. Once the Scholarship has been terminated, it will not be reinstated unless due to University error.
c. Where a student is found guilty of serious misconduct or the Scholarship is terminated under any instance in the Termination Clause of these terms and conditions, the University reserves the right to request that any Scholarship funds paid to the Scholarship recipient be reimbursed.
