5 things to know about the Chau Chak Wing Museum

From contemporary art to ancient Egyptian artefacts and natural history collections – Chau Chak Wing Museum (CCWM) is a hidden gem on campus guaranteed to delight.
Here are five things to know about CCWM and how you can make the most of our very own cultural institution on campus.

1. It's completely free!
That’s right, no entry fee or charges for any of the exhibitions! Take a wander through the space, escape the heat on hot days or meet up with friends in a space completely free of charge on campus.

2. It has the largest permanent Egyptian collection in Sydney
Discover the Egyptian Galleries on Level 2 which feature two permanent exhibitions, The Mummy Room and Pharaonic Obsessions. These two exhibitions take you on a journey, through the modern history of Egyptomania and archaeological discovery to the cutting-edge of science.

3. Alongside ancient artefacts, there's also contemporary art
Level 1 of the Museum has a dedicated contemporary art gallery specifically used for showcasing new work. The exhibitions in this space are temporary and change throughout the year, so make sure to come back to take a peek at what’s new.
The current exhibition is by Consuelo Cavaniglia titled seeing through you and is set to close on 23 March. Stay tuned across the Museum’s Instagram to find out what's coming up next!

4. Students receive 10 percent off at the gift shop
The Museum Gift Shop has a great range of books, jewellery, USYD and CCWM merch, plus so much more.
Located on the right as you enter the foyer space, the gift shop is perfect for those last-minute gifts you forgot to buy! Cash in on that 10 percent discount next time you visit by showing your student ID at the counter.

5. There's a café on Level 2!
Pssst – we’ve heard the best coffee on campus comes from Sounds Café on Level 2 of the Museum...
