Dental disease is the most common major health problem of cats and dogs. It is estimated that up to 80% of cats and 75% of dogs over the age of 5 suffer from dental disease. Good oral hygiene is important for your pet, just as it is in humans.

Periodontal disease is a disease of the supporting tissue of the teeth – the gums, ligaments and bone tissues which hold and attach the teeth in place. These tissues become inflamed and infected. If left untreated, periodontal disease causes tooth loss and decay, and can cause much more serious infections.

• Bad breath
• Changed eating behaviour (difficult chewing food, chewing on one side, loss of appetite)
• Red, swollen and bleeding gums
• Loose teeth and receding gums
• Accumulation of plaque on the teeth
