Management

Major

Effective management of people and teams is critical to a business achieving its objectives. Our management major provides the tools and concepts you need to understand how organisations work and the critical role of managers within them.

An effective manager needs to be a good leader who can sum up a situation accurately and make a sound decision, delegate appropriately and inspire staff. Managers make good decisions when they understand the business they are in and how it fits into a wider context.

Studying our management major will equip you with essential leadership, teamwork and networking skills. You will build knowledge in important areas such as developing and implementing strategy, driving organisational change and leading teams to achieve organisational objectives.

This major draws on subjects from a number of disciplines in the Business School to give you a well-rounded understanding of management. You will gain a sound understanding of managing an organisation's internal processes and the relationships between organisations and their national and global business environment.

Combining management with another major can complement your understanding of management with specific skills and expertise, strengthening your career prospects.

By studying at the Business School you will be taught by internationally recognised scholars who are actively involved in leading research in a wide variety of management related areas.
