Major

Our Management and Leadership major will give you the knowledge, tools and skills to help organisations achieve their objectives and make a positive societal contribution as a leader. The major provides you with the frameworks and concepts you need to understand how businesses and other organisations operate. It demonstrates how to navigate complex social and organisational problems, such as ongoing socio-economic uncertainties and inequalities within and outside organisations, as well as climate and other environment challenges.

Studying this major will equip you with essential leadership, teamwork and networking skills. Through experiential learning and a focus on business sustainability problems and inclusive leadership, you will gain real-world experience and build knowledge in important areas such as the psychology of people at work, developing and implementing strategy, driving organisational change, and leading teams to achieve organisational objectives in national and global business environments.

The Management and Leadership major draws on subjects from the discipline of Work and Organisational Studies as well as other disciplines in the Business School to give you a well-rounded understanding of management and leadership. Combining management and leadership with another major can complement your understanding of business life with specific skills and expertise, strengthening your career prospects.

You will be taught by internationally recognised scholars who are actively involved in leading research in a wide variety of management and leadership related areas. Our programs are aligned with the United Nations' Sustainability Development Goals, which means we aim to develop the capabilities of students to become future leaders, working not just to build organisations but also to develop inclusive and sustainable economies.
