This unit of study is designed for all higher degree research students who are required to work with chemicals as part of their research activities. Many chemicals used at the University can be harmful to your health if you are exposed; other chemicals pose a risk of serious incidents and injuries if not handled appropriately. The Unit will introduce you to the University's Chemical Safety Standards and explain how chemicals are classified. You will learn how to plan work involving chemicals and how to apply common safe work procedures.
Maximum of 3 hours (online delivery) 2 x 60-90 minute online training modules
online quiz requiring a mark of at least 80% to satisfy requirements. Unit will be assessed on a 'Satisfies Requirement (SR)' basis, with no mark recorded.
A workbook and associated resources are provided within the online modules and via the unit of study LMS website.
